How we make money
Most sites like this one will not tell you. We think the part homeowners resent is not the sales call — it is finding out afterward that they were the product. So here it is, plainly.
The short version
We sell your information. That is the entire business. When you tell us your address, the price you want to pay and how to reach you, we sell that to roofing contractors and marketing companies. They call, text and email you. You never pay us anything.
Who pays us
Roofing contractors and marketing partners buy homeowner roofing requests from us. Home-services leads in this category generally trade between roughly $50 and $250 depending on how qualified they are and how many buyers receive them. A request that includes a stated budget, a property address and a timeline is worth more to a contractor than a bare name and number, because it saves them a wasted trip.
The current list of companies that buy leads from us is published at /partners/. We keep it up to date, and we archive a dated copy every time it changes so we can show any homeowner exactly what they saw on the day they submitted.
How many companies get your information
Up to 3. We cap it on purpose. Homeowners overwhelmingly compare two or three quotes and then decide, so a fourth and fifth caller adds nothing for you and makes the experience worse. Sites that sell the same lead to a dozen buyers are optimizing for their revenue per submission, not for your morning.
Your request may be sold to more than one company at the same time, and marketing partners may pass it along further. We tell you this before you submit rather than after, and we say it again in the Privacy Policy.
What we do not do
- We do not charge homeowners anything, ever.
- We do not take a cut of the roofing job.
- We do not steer you to whichever contractor pays the most. Contractors receive requests based on the ZIP codes they serve.
- We do not sell your information outside the United States.
- We do not buy or append data about you from other companies. Everything we have is what you typed.
- We do not perform roofing work, inspect roofs, employ contractors, or supervise anyone's job.
What this actually means for you
Two things follow from a business that gets paid this way, and you should weigh both.
The good part: you get several contractors competing against a number you set, without spending a week making phone calls and sitting through in-home presentations. The contractors who answer already know your budget, so nobody wastes anybody's time.
The part you should know: once a company buys your information, that company decides what it does with it. If you want it to stop contacting you or delete what it has, you will need to tell that company directly. We will give you its contact details if you ask, and if you tell us to stop we will stop selling your information and notify the companies we already sold it to — but we cannot force another company to delete anything.
